About Me
I am a mystery writer, midlife specialist, communications professional, mother, and podcaster.
My mid life journey began over 35 years ago.
After an ordinary childhood and adolescence, life turned upside down. In just a few short years, I lost my parents and grandparents, married and divorced, and surfaced in my late 20s a middle-aged soul.
Deep down, I knew the dichotomy: Chronologically and physically, I was a 20-something. Psychologically, I was middle-aged. It made it hard for me to blend in with my peers and their approach to life. I already knew the fine print. But I still had the expected life stages to work through.
It would take me over three decades to catch up with myself.
As I worked through my life, my midlife lens captured the journeys of others ahead of me. I recognized patterns of challenge, issues of loss, sudden disorientation, and cyclical paths of people trying to make sense of social and professional downturns when the engines are still at full power.
I arrived in my own midlife (the real one) already done with the expected confusion and hesitation, done with the sad humour of ebbing youth, done with the selling of diminishing value and ageism.
I didn’t have to spend the traditional first five to 10 years of my midlife figuring it out, wasting valuable time. I knew that midlife is a cluster of life changes, pivots, and patterns. The difference for each person is only how they will navigate them.
I recognized my experience, expertise, energy and earned wisdom. I understood the power of curating your past and claiming your present. I was a survivor who chose to live the deliberate life.
I’m a #mdlfbdaz.
I #ownmyroad.
And I’m here to help you own yours at the most powerful stage of your life: your Third Quarter.
